East Arnhem Empowerment Conference

Join us for a day of learning, empowerment and connection


Brought to you by the Galiwinku Women’s Space, this event is offered to East Arnhem people to experience Nationally and Internationally renowned speakers and stories brought to their own backyard.


Held at the Church in Galiwinku on Wednesday 18 August and the Town Hall in Nhulunbuy on Thursday 19 August, you will have the chance to hear from incredible Territorians including:

  • Dr Miriam-Rose Ungunmerr Baumann AM – Senior Australian of the Year NT 2021 and Aboriginal Elder.

  • Professor MaryAnn Bin-Sallik AM – The first Aboriginal Woman to graduate from Harvard University with a Doctorate.

  • Wendy Burns – Internationally renowned Coach and Mentor

  • Senior Aboriginal Community Police Officer, Bettina Danganbarr

  • Sergeant Erica Gibson – NT’s Australian of the Year Local Hero

Nhulunbuy Empowerment Conference


Date: 19th August 2021

Time: 9am - 4pm

Location: Galiwin'ku Church Lawns

Cost: $40 per person or $150 for four

Lunch and refreshments provided





All funds will support Galiwin'ku Women's Space.
